The Gainesville Hurricanes (Gainesville, FL) basketball knocked off the visiting Newberry Panthers (Newberry, FL), 74-60 in Monday's non-league test.

The Hurricanes (10-7) will now prepare for their test against Eastside (Gainesville, FL). The Rams go into the non-league test with a 3-9 record. In their last test, Eastside went down by Carrollwood Day (Tampa, FL), 53-42, in a non-league test.

The Panthers now own a 11-2 record. They play next when they travel to Bradford for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 11. Newberry will battle a Tornadoes team coming off a 58-38 non-league loss to West Nassau (Callahan, FL). The Tornadoes record now stands at 4-4.
