Crownpoint Eagles (Crownpoint, NM) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM), 53-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Crownpoint upgrades its record to 10-4 on the season. The Eagles host Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM) to play the Cougars in a 3A District 1 bout on Thursday, January 12. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 8-6. Tohatchi lost 67-45 in their recent league bout against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Bears play the Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Thursday, January 12. Wingate will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Thunderbirds go into the bout with a 6-3 record after their 84-35 non-league win over Ramah (Ramah, NM).
