The Gates County Red Barons basketball team scored 68 points and held the visiting Perquimans Pirates to 56 in the Red Barons league triumph on Tuesday.

The Red Barons now sport a 4-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pasquotank County for a non-league contest on Wednesday, January 11. Gates County will meet a Panthers team coming off a 45-41 league loss to Currituck County (Barco, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 6-5.

The Pirates (2-9) will now prepare for their contest against Riverside-Martin (Williamston, NC). The Knights enter the 1A Conference 2 contest with a 8-5 record. In their last contest, Riverside-Martin ran past South Creek (Robersonville, NC), 74-55, in a league contest.
