With the victory, New Waverly upgrades its record to 16-5 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Onalaska (Onalaska, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 3A Region III District 23 bout on Friday, January 13. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 10-15. Onalaska lost 66-44 in their recent league bout against Crockett (Crockett, TX)

Next up, the Pirates play the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls (Anderson, TX) in a 3A Region III District 23 bout, on Friday, January 13. Shepherd will attempt to upgrade on its 11-13 season record. The Fighting Owls come into the bout with a 6-17 record after their 56-45 league loss to Coldspring-Oakhurst (Coldspring, TX).
