Olton Mustangs (Olton, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Lockney Longhorns (Lockney, TX), 52-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Olton upgrades its record to 8-14 on the season. The Mustangs host Floydada (Floydada, TX) to clash with the Whirlwinds in a 2A Region I District 4 bout on Friday, January 13. The Whirlwinds go into the bout with a record of 13-7. Floydada won 54-39 in their recent league bout against Ralls (Ralls, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns clash with the Hale Center Owls (Hale Center, TX) in a 2A Region I District 4 challenge, on Friday, January 13. Lockney will attempt to improve on its 16-8 season record. The Owls come into the challenge with a 19-6 record after their 44-37 league loss to New Deal (New Deal, TX).
