Maywood Academy Nighthawks (Maywood, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Torres Toros (Los Angeles, CA), 50-27 in a league bout.

With the victory, Maywood Academy upgrades its record to 7-12 on the campaign. The Nighthawks travel to Marquez (Huntington Park, CA) to play the Gladiators in a Southern bout on Friday, January 12. The Gladiators come into the bout with a record of 11-5. Marquez won 55-46 in their recent non-league bout against Sierra Vista (Baldwin Park, CA)

Next up, the Toros play the Sotomayor Wolves (Los Angeles, CA) in a Southern bout, on Friday, January 12. Torres will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Wolves come into the bout with a 9-8 record after their 53-33 league win over Elizabeth (Cudahy, CA).
