St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors (Downey, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Salesian Mustangs (Los Angeles, CA), 51-47 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy upgrades its record to 2-2 on the campaign. The Warriors host Sotomayor (Los Angeles, CA) to play the Wolves in a non-league bout on Monday, January 15. The Wolves come into the bout with a record of 1-2. Sotomayor lost 41-24 in their recent non-league bout against Salesian (Los Angeles, CA)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Cathedral Phantoms (Los Angeles, CA) in a bout, on Friday, January 12. Salesian will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Phantoms come into the bout with a 0-8 record after their 63-13 league loss to Bishop Amat (La Puente, CA).
