Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Albemarle Bulldogs (Albemarle, NC), 47-34 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Union Academy upgrades its record to 6-4 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Gray Stone Day (Misenheimer, NC) to clash with the Knights in a non-league bout on Friday, January 12. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 0-9. Gray Stone Day lost 84-40 in their recent non-league bout against North Stanly (New London, NC)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Mount Pleasant Tigers (Mt. Pleasant, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 12. Albemarle will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 5-4 record after their 62-26 non-league win over Gray Stone Day (Misenheimer, NC).
