The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Gateway Gators (Monroeville, PA) and the host Penn-Trafford Warriors (Harrison City, PA), observed Gateway's basketball team overcome Penn-Trafford by a score of 68-52.

The Gators (5-6) will now prepare for their challenge against McKeesport (McKeesport, PA). The Tigers come into the WPIAL 5A 1 challenge with a 6-8 record. In their last challenge, McKeesport dropped by Greater Latrobe (Latrobe, PA), 66-63, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Warriors battle the Laurel Highlands Mustangs (Uniontown, PA) in a WPIAL 5A 1 challenge, on Tuesday, January 14. Penn-Trafford will attempt to improve on its 6-7 season record. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a 4-10 record after their 79-49 league loss to Uniontown (Uniontown, PA).
