In Friday's league contest, the visiting Poth Pirates basketball team scored a big 49-23 triumph over the Goliad Tigers.

The Pirates (10-10) will now prepare for their contest against Stockdale (Stockdale, TX). The Brahmas go into the 3A Region IV District 26 contest with a 7-13 record. In their last contest, Stockdale was trounced by Nixon-Smiley (Nixon, TX), 59-56, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Tigers battle the Karnes City Badgers (Karnes City, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 26 contest, on Tuesday, January 14. Goliad will attempt to better on its 9-11 season record. The Badgers go into the contest with a 13-10 record after their 55-50 league loss to Luling (Luling, TX).
