The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Hazleton Area Cougars (Hazleton, PA) and the visiting Pittston Patriots (Pittston, PA), observed Hazleton Area's basketball team overwhelm Pittston by a score of 76-47.

The Cougars (6-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Wyoming Valley West (Plymouth, PA). The Spartans come into the Wyoming Valley 1 challenge with a 0-7 record. In their last challenge, Wyoming Valley West was crushed by Executive Education Academy Charter School (Allentown, PA), 55-54, in a non-league battle.

The Patriots now own a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Dallas for a Wyoming Valley 1 battle on Tuesday, January 14.
