The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Wayne County Yellow Jackets (Jesup, GA) and the visiting New Hampstead Phoenix (Savannah, GA), observed Wayne County's basketball team overwhelm New Hampstead by a score of 65-17.

The Yellow Jackets (11-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Ware County (Waycross, GA). The Gators come into the AAAA Region 1 challenge with a 16-3 record. In their last challenge, Ware County trounced Perry (Perry, GA), 57-41, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Phoenix battle the Savannah Christian Raiders (Savannah, GA) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 13. New Hampstead will attempt to improve on its 2-10 season record. The Raiders come into the challenge with a 4-10 record after their 41-39 non-league loss to Woodville-Tompkins (Savannah, GA).
