Texas High School Basketball - Merkel nips Jim Ned

Merkel Badgers (Merkel, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Jim Ned Indians (Tuscola, TX), 42-37 in a league bout.
With the victory, Merkel upgrades its record to 16-6 on the campaign. The Badgers travel to Clyde (Clyde, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 3A Region I District 6 bout on Friday, January 14. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 16-9. Clyde won 65-39 in their recent league bout against Wall (Wall, TX)
Next up, the Indians play the Grape Creek Eagles (San Angelo, TX) in a 3A Region I District 6 bout, on Friday, January 14. Jim Ned will attempt to upgrade on its 15-9 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 4-12 record after their 50-31 league loss to Brady (Brady, TX).
