Virginia High School Basketball - Alleghany tops Grayson County

January 11, 2023: Independence, VA 24348

Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), 53-36 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Alleghany upgrades its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to Starmount (Boonville, NC) to play the Rams in a 1A Conference 36 bout on Friday, January 13. The Rams come into the bout with a record of 8-6. Starmount lost 81-31 in their recent league bout against South Stokes (Walnut Cove, NC)

Next up, the Blue Devils play the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 11. Grayson County will attempt to upgrade on its 2-10 season record. The Mountaineers come into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 57-54 league loss to Glenvar (Salem, VA).
