Crownpoint Eagles (Crownpoint, NM) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM), 48-17 in a league bout.

With the victory, Crownpoint upgrades its record to 9-5 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM) to play the Cougars in a 3A District 1 bout on Friday, January 13. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 8-6. Tohatchi won 47-29 in their recent non-league bout against Piedra Vista (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Bears play the Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Friday, January 13. Wingate will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Thunderbirds come into the bout with a 8-3 record after their 33-31 non-league win over Shiprock (Shiprock, NM).
