Match Summary
Senior Night unwrapped slowly, team making a move until Rhea’s free kick in the 10th m. was close to topping their keeper. With 13 m. left in the half Dylan fought to get the ball in the 6 but couldn’t quite manage to pull the trigger. With 5 to go, Florida High was about to possibly net a strike from about 15 yd. when Meghan stepped in to eject the ball from just feet in front of the goal. Seconds before the break, there was a flurry of difficult-to-follow action in front to the goal, with the ball appearing to be shot and saved a time or two—before Ariana ended the suspense and bopped the ball to the back of the net. We honored our 6 seniors with halftime festivities and photos, knowing that the coming 40 m. would test us. But Mango—the Player of the Game, whose very welcome return to the pitch after missing the previous seven games while her leg injury healed—had turned in game-winner. We were held to just 1 second half shot, while EmmaT cornered their 3 goal shots in 6 attempts.
