New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds (New Ulm, MN) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN), 66-54 in a league bout.

With the win, New Ulm Cathedral upgrades its record to 6-8 on the season. The Greyhounds host Madelia (Madelia, MN) to play the Blackhawks in a A Section 2 bout on Monday, January 15. The Blackhawks go into the bout with a record of 1-11. Madelia lost 55-34 in their recent league bout against Loyola (Mankato, MN)

Next up, the Thunderbirds play the Sibley East Wolverines (Arlington, MN) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 15. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will attempt to upgrade on its 6-8 season record. The Wolverines go into the bout with a 8-6 record after their 56-53 league win over Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] (Montgomery, MN).
