Gwynedd Mercy Academy Monarchs (Gwynedd Valley, PA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic (Flourtown, PA), 36-27 in a league bout.

With the victory, Gwynedd Mercy Academy upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to William Penn Charter (Philadelphia, PA) to play the Quakers in a non-league bout on Sunday, January 14. The Quakers come into the bout with a record of 6-8. William Penn Charter won 70-32 in their recent league bout against Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Philadelphia, PA)

Next up, the Magic play the Penncrest Lions (Media, PA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 13. Mt. St. Joseph Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record.
