Fans at Thursday's league challenge between the Richton Rebels (Richton, MS) and the visiting North Forrest Eagles (Hattiesburg, MS), saw Richton's basketball squad hold off North Forrest by a count of 48-42.

With the victory, Richton upgrades its record to 9-15 on the campaign. The Rebels travel to Heidelberg (Heidelberg, MS) to play the Oilers in a 2A Region 8 challenge on Thursday, January 18. The Oilers come into the battle with a record of 12-6.

The Eagles (7-15) will now prepare for their battle against Mize (Mize, MS). The Bulldogs come into the 2A Region 8 battle with a 16-5 record. In their last battle, Mize edged Collins (Collins, MS), 46-44, in a league battle.
