The crowd at Thursday's league test between the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) and the host Leake Central Gators (Carthage, MS), saw Newton County's soccer squad triumph over Leake Central by a margin of 11-0.

The Cougars now sport a 14-5 record. They play next when they travel to West Lauderdale for a 4A Region 4 test on Saturday, January 13. Newton County will meet a Knights squad coming off a 3-2 league win over Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS). The Knights record now stands at 8-5.

With the loss, Leake Central drops to 1-8 on the season. The Gators travel to Northeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS) to meet the Trojans in a 4A Region 4 test on Friday, January 12. The Trojans come into the test with a record of 8-5. Northeast Lauderdale lost 8-0 in their recent league test against Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS)
