The Amarillo Sandies basketball team scored 71 points and limited the host Coronado Mustangs to 24 in the Sandies league triumph on Saturday.

The Sandies now have a 23-4 record. They play next when they host Plainview for a 5A Region I District 3 game on Tuesday, January 14. Amarillo will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 100-58 league loss to Monterey (Lubbock, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 13-11.

With the loss, Coronado falls to 9-18 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Lubbock-Cooper (Lubbock, TX) to confront the Pirates in a 5A Region I District 3 game on Tuesday, January 14. The Pirates go into the game with a record of 8-12. Lubbock-Cooper won 41-36 in their recent league game against Palo Duro (Amarillo, TX)
