Winona Winhawks (Winona, MN) boosters were satisfied Saturday as they witnessed their ice hockey team defeat the host St. Paul Academy-Summit Spartans (St. Paul, MN), 6-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Winhawks (7-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Faribault (Faribault, MN). The Falcons come into the Big 9 challenge with a 3-8 record. In their last challenge, Faribault was routed by Red Wing (Red Wing, MN), 6-0, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Spartans battle the Providence Academy Lions (Plymouth, MN) in a Tri-Metro challenge, on Tuesday, January 14. St. Paul Academy-Summit will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 3-4 record after their 8-2 league loss to Blake (Minneapolis, MN).
