Independence Falcons (Bakersfield, CA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Bakersfield Drillers (Bakersfield, CA), 62-48 in a league bout.

With the win, Independence upgrades its record to 9-9 on the season. The Falcons travel to Selma (Selma, CA) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 14. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 14-3. Selma won 75-36 in their recent non-league bout against Exeter (Exeter, CA)

Next up, the Drillers play the Pioneer Valley Panthers (Santa Maria, CA) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 16. Bakersfield will attempt to upgrade on its 3-16 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 1-17 record after their 62-54 league loss to Atascadero (Atascadero, CA).
