Desert Edge Scorpions (Goodyear, AZ) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Verrado Vipers (Buckeye, AZ), 34-26 in a league bout.

With the win, Desert Edge upgrades its record to 9-9 on the season. The Scorpions host Horizon (Scottsdale, AZ) to play the Huskies in a non-league bout on Friday, January 13. The Huskies go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Horizon lost 49-41 in their recent non-league bout against Williams Field (Gilbert, AZ)

Next up, the Vipers play the Lake Havasu Knights (Lake Havasu City, AZ) in a 5A Desert West bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Verrado will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 0-10 record after their 62-10 league loss to Westview (Avondale, AZ).
