The Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) basketball crushed the host Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), 50-6 in Thursday's league test.
The Vikings (10-1) will now prepare for their test against Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Wildcats go into the non-league test with a 6-4 record.
The Mountaineers now own a 0-6 record. They play next when they travel to Madison for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 17. Mitchell will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 55-12 non-league loss to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 0-9.
