Marfa Shorthorns (Marfa, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Big Bend Roadrunners (Terlingua, TX), 72-17 in a league bout.

With the victory, Marfa upgrades its record to 9-10 on the campaign. The Shorthorns travel to Sierra Blanca (Sierra Blanca, TX) to play the Vaqueros in a 1A Region II District 9 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Vaqueros come into the bout with a record of 4-5. Sierra Blanca won 67-62 in their recent league bout against Dell City (Dell City, TX)

Next up, the Roadrunners play the Fort Davis Indians (Fort Davis, TX) in a 1A Region II District 9 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Big Bend will attempt to upgrade on its 0-3 season record. The Indians come into the bout with a 0-9 record after their 66-13 league loss to Van Horn (Van Horn, TX).
