Nevada High School Basketball - Eldorado tops Amplus Academy

Eldorado Sundevils (Las Vegas, NV) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Amplus Academy Archers (Las Vegas, NV), 21-7 in a league bout.
With the victory, Eldorado upgrades its record to 2-9 on the campaign. The Sundevils travel to Valley (Las Vegas, NV) to play the Vikings in a 4A Sky bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Vikings come into the bout with a record of 9-7. Valley lost 68-45 in their recent league bout against Legacy (North Las Vegas, NV)
Next up, the Archers play the Bonanza Bengals (Las Vegas, NV) in a 4A Sky bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Amplus Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 0-9 season record. The Bengals come into the bout with a 2-6 record after their 49-12 league loss to Somerset Academy Losee (North Las Vegas, NV).

Q1: Amplus
Defense: Lady Archers started fast with good defensive pressure, blocking 3 shots and creating 6 steals/forced turnovers.
Rebounding: Lady Archers boxed out well, battled and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Offense: Lady Archers took 12 shots but could not get the ball to fall.
End of Q1: 0-3
Second Quarter
Q2: Amplus
Defense: Lady Archers continued the defensive pressure, blocking 4 shots and creating 10 steals/forced turnovers.
Rebounding: Lady Archers also boxed out well, battled and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Offense: Lady Archers took 19 more shots but still could not get the ball to fall.
End of Q2: 0-10
Third Quarter
Q3: Amplus
Defense: Lady Archers continued the defensive pressure, blocking 3 shots and creating 7 steals/forced turnovers.
Rebounding: Lady Archers also boxed out well, battled and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Offense: Lady Archers took 14 shots, attacking the basket to get fouled and shoot free throws. Made 2 FTs for the team's first points of the game.
End of Q3: 2-15
Fourth Quarter
Q4: Amplus
Defense: Lady Archers continued the defensive pressure, blocking 1 shot and creating 14 steals/forced turnovers.
Rebounding: Lady Archers also boxed out well, battled and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Offense: Lady Archers took 14 shots, and PG Naomi Jacob hit a pullup jumper from the elbow to get the team's first basket.
End of Q4: 7-21
Naomi led the Lady Archers with 4 points.
Vanesa and Naia cleaned up the rebounds with 11 and 10 respectively.
Naomi and Naia led the Lady Archers with 8 steals each.

Despite the loss, the young Amplus Varsity team showed tremendous improvement as players and as a Team. Look forward to watching this Team continue to grow, develop and battle the rest of the season.
