Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), 73-63 in a league bout.

With the win, Eastside upgrades its record to 7-4 on the season. The Spartans host Letcher County Central (Whitesburg, KY) to play the Cougars / Lady Cougars in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Cougars / Lady Cougars go into the bout with a record of 6-5.

Next up, the Black Raiders play the John Battle Trojans (Bristol, VA) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 15. J.I. Burton will attempt to upgrade on its 8-6 season record.
