Lafayette County Cougars (Stamps, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mineral Springs Hornets (Mineral Springs, AR), 49-36 in a league bout.
With the win, Lafayette County upgrades its record to 7-10 on the season. The Cougars travel to Kirby (Kirby, AR) to play the Trojans in a 1A Region 7 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 19-5.
Next up, the Hornets play the Mount Ida Lions (Mount Ida, AR) in a 1A Region 7 bout, on Monday, January 15. Mineral Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 1-10 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 5-9 record after their 48-40 non-league loss to Union Christian Academy (Fort Smith, AR).
