Monroe County Tigers (Monroeville, AL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Thomasville Tigers (Thomasville, AL), 57-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monroe County upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Excel (Excel, AL) to play the Panthers in a 3A Area 5 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 1-7. Excel won 39-26 in their recent non-league bout against Sweet Water (Sweet Water, AL)

Next up, the Tigers play the Sumter Central Jaguars (York, AL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Thomasville will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record.
