Santana Sultans (Santee, CA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting El Capitan Vaqueros (Lakeside, CA), 54-49 in a league bout.

With the win, Santana upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Sultans host Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, CA) to play the Matadors in a bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Matadors go into the bout with a record of 9-5. Mount Miguel lost 52-42 in their recent non-league bout against Lincoln (San Diego, CA)

Next up, the Vaqueros play the Grossmont Foothillers (El Cajon, CA) in a bout, on Tuesday, January 16. El Capitan will attempt to upgrade on its 12-3 season record. The Foothillers go into the bout with a 1-3 record after their 57-39 league loss to Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, CA).
