Baldwin Highlanders (Pittsburgh, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA), 71-61 in a league bout.

With the win, Baldwin upgrades its record to 9-5 on the season. The Highlanders host Upper St. Clair (Upper St. Clair, PA) to play the Panthers in a WPIAL 6A 2 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 8-6. Upper St. Clair won 65-39 in their recent league bout against Canon-McMillan (Canonsburg, PA)

Next up, the Spartans play the Norwin Knights (North Huntingdon, PA) in a WPIAL 6A 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Hempfield Area will attempt to upgrade on its 7-7 season record.
