Canton Eagles (Canton, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Van Vandals (Van, TX), 49-33 in a league bout.

With the victory, Canton upgrades its record to 23-5 on the campaign. The Eagles host Lindale (Lindale, TX) to play the Eagles in a 4A Region II District 16 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 17-6. Lindale lost 42-29 in their recent league bout against Athens (Athens, TX)

Next up, the Vandals play the Cumberland Academy Knights (Tyler, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Van will attempt to upgrade on its 5-12 season record. The Knights come into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 76-45 league loss to Brownsboro (Brownsboro, TX).
