Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds (Mayville, NY) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Maple Grove Red Dragons (Bemus Point, NY), 63-56 in a league bout.

With the victory, Chautauqua Lake upgrades its record to 4-7 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds host Panama (Panama, NY) to play the Panthers in a Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus - II West bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 8-1. Panama won 78-26 in their recent league bout against Brocton (Brocton, NY)

Next up, the Red Dragons play the Westfield Wolverines (Westfield, NY) in a Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus - II West bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Maple Grove will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record. The Wolverines come into the bout with a 8-5 record after their 59-55 non-league win over Dunkirk (Dunkirk, NY).
