DeWitt Dragons (DeWitt, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Dollarway Cardinals (Pine Bluff, AR), 53-39 in a league bout.

With the win, DeWitt upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Dragons host Drew Central (Monticello, AR) to play the Pirates in a 3A Region 8 bout on Wednesday, January 18. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 10-2. Drew Central won 68-53 in their recent league bout against Lakeside (Hot Springs, AR)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Dumas Bobcats (Dumas, AR) in a 3A Region 8 bout, on Wednesday, January 18. Dollarway will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 13-5 record after their 72-44 league win over McGehee (McGehee, AR).
