New Bedford Whalers (New Bedford, MA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Durfee Hilltoppers (Fall River, MA), 60-57 in a league bout.

With the victory, New Bedford upgrades its record to 7-1 on the campaign. The Whalers host Foxborough (Foxborough, MA) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Sunday, January 15. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 4-4. Foxborough lost 58-50 in their recent league bout against King Philip Regional (Wrentham, MA)

Next up, the Hilltoppers play the Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders (Somerset, MA) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 20. Durfee will attempt to upgrade on its 5-4 season record.
