Hale Center Owls (Hale Center, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Lockney Longhorns (Lockney, TX), 61-57 in a league bout.

With the win, Hale Center upgrades its record to 8-11 on the season. The Owls host Floydada (Floydada, TX) to clash with the Whirlwinds in a 2A Region I District 4 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Whirlwinds go into the bout with a record of 22-5. Floydada lost 72-68 in their recent league bout against Olton (Olton, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns clash with the Sudan Hornets (Sudan, TX) in a 2A Region I District 4 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Lockney will attempt to upgrade on its 9-10 season record. The Hornets go into the bout with a 1-9 record after their 70-31 league loss to New Deal (New Deal, TX).
