The Helix Highlanders (La Mesa, CA) basketball nipped the host Monte Vista Monarchs (Spring Valley, CA), 58-52 in Friday's league test.
The Highlanders (10-10) will now prepare for their test against Coronado (Coronado, CA). The Islanders go into the non-league test with a 16-5 record. In their last test, Coronado got by Mira Mesa (San Diego, CA), 47-45, in a league test.
The Monarchs now own a 8-13 record. They play next when they travel to Granite Hills for a Grossmont - Hills test on Tuesday, January 17. Monte Vista will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 54-47 league win over Grossmont (El Cajon, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 9-7.
