Hooks Hornets (Hooks, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting New Boston Lions (New Boston, TX), 45-37 in a league bout.

With the win, Hooks upgrades its record to 20-4 on the season. The Hornets host Pewitt (Omaha, TX) to play the Brahmas in a 3A Region II District 14 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Brahmas go into the bout with a record of 2-20. Pewitt lost 49-46 in their recent league bout against Queen City (Queen City, TX)

Next up, the Lions play the Redwater Dragons (Redwater, TX) in a 3A Region II District 14 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. New Boston will attempt to upgrade on its 5-8 season record. The Dragons go into the bout with a 10-15 record after their 56-54 league win over De Kalb (De Kalb, TX).
