Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Monterey Plainsmen (Lubbock, TX) and the visiting Lubbock Westerners (Lubbock, TX), saw Monterey's basketball squad knock off Lubbock by a count of 54-39.

With the victory, Monterey upgrades its record to 16-8 on the campaign. The Plainsmen host Coronado (Lubbock, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Tuesday, January 17. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 14-8. Coronado lost 49-46 in their recent league challenge against Cooper (Abilene, TX)

Next up, the Westerners play the Coronado Mustangs (Lubbock, TX) in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge, on Friday, January 20. Lubbock will attempt to upgrade on its 3-22 season record.
