New Waverly Bulldogs (New Waverly, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Onalaska Wildcats (Onalaska, TX), 86-64 in a league bout.

With the win, New Waverly upgrades its record to 17-5 on the season. The Bulldogs travel to Tarkington (Cleveland, TX) to play the Longhorns in a 3A Region III District 23 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Longhorns go into the bout with a record of 11-14. Tarkington lost 45-43 in their recent league bout against Crockett (Crockett, TX)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls (Anderson, TX) in a 3A Region III District 23 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Onalaska will attempt to upgrade on its 10-16 season record. The Fighting Owls go into the bout with a 6-18 record after their 64-54 league loss to Shepherd (Shepherd, TX).
