Salem Spartans (Salem, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Pulaski County Cougars (Dublin, VA), 59-52 in a league bout.

With the win, Salem upgrades its record to 7-8 on the season. The Spartans travel to Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA) to play the Patriots in a River Ridge bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 13-1. Patrick Henry won 87-66 in their recent non-league bout against Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg, VA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Christiansburg Blue Demons (Christiansburg, VA) in a River Ridge bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Pulaski County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-10 season record. The Blue Demons go into the bout with a 2-13 record after their 73-50 league loss to Blacksburg (Blacksburg, VA).
