Boyd County Lions (Ashland, KY) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Morgan County Cougars (West Liberty, KY), 76-66 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Boyd County upgrades its record to 12-3 on the season. The Lions host Fairview (Ashland, KY) to play the Eagles in a District 64 bout on Friday, January 20. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 3-4.

Next up, the Cougars play the East Carter Raiders (Grayson, KY) in a District 62 bout, on Saturday, January 14. Morgan County will attempt to upgrade on its 9-7 season record. The Raiders go into the bout with a 3-8 record after their 49-37 non-league loss to St. Joseph Central (Huntington, WV).
