Olton Mustangs (Olton, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Floydada Whirlwinds (Floydada, TX), 46-42 in a league bout.

With the win, Olton upgrades its record to 9-14 on the season. The Mustangs host Ralls (Ralls, TX) to play the Jackrabbits in a 2A Region I District 4 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Jackrabbits go into the bout with a record of 5-13.

Next up, the Whirlwinds play the Hale Center Owls (Hale Center, TX) in a 2A Region I District 4 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Floydada will attempt to upgrade on its 13-8 season record. The Owls go into the bout with a 19-7 record after their 50-41 league loss to Lockney (Lockney, TX).
