Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA), 27-26 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Giles upgrades its record to 2-4 on the season. The Spartans travel to George Wythe (Wytheville, VA) to play the Maroons in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Maroons go into the bout with a record of 8-0.

Next up, the Bears play the Craig County Rockets (New Castle, VA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 14. Bland County will attempt to upgrade on its 11-2 season record. The Rockets go into the bout with a 4-3 record after their 46-16 non-league win over Highland (Monterey, VA).
