In Friday's non-league outing, the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) basketball squad edged the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA), by a count of 33-28.

The Maroons (8-1) will now prepare for their outing against Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Spartans go into the non-league outing with a 4-5 record. In their last outing, Giles was tipped by Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA), 39-22, in a non-league outing.

The Pioneers now hold a 6-7 record. They play next when they host Grayson County for a non-league outing on Tuesday, January 17.
