Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC), 33-32 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Thomas Jefferson upgrades its record to 11-1 on the season. The Gryphons host Burns (Lawndale, NC) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 6-3. Burns won 56-39 in their recent non-league bout against East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC)

Next up, the Golden Lions play the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets (Bessemer City, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 18. Shelby will attempt to upgrade on its 4-6 season record. The Yellow Jackets go into the bout with a 1-11 record after their 46-38 non-league loss to Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC).
