In Monday's non-league contest, the host East Carteret Mariners basketball team scored a good 56-46 triumph over the Epiphany Falcons.

The Mariners (2-6) will now prepare for their contest against Jones (Trenton, NC). The Trojans go into the 1A/2A Coastal Plains contest with a 1-9 record. In their last contest, Jones topped Jacksonville Christian Academy (Jacksonville, NC), 38-30, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Falcons confront the Greenfield Knights (Wilson, NC) in a NCISAA Coastal Plain contest, on Tuesday, January 14. Epiphany will attempt to better on its 4-12 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 17-7 record after their 65-45 league win over Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington, NC).
