The crowd at Monday's league challenge between the Burgettstown Blue Devils (Burgettstown, PA) and the host Carlynton Cougars (Carnegie, PA), observed Burgettstown's basketball team knock off Carlynton by a score of 43-23.

The Blue Devils (4-7) will now prepare for their challenge against California (Coal Center, PA). The Trojans come into the non-league challenge with a 5-4 record. In their last challenge, California was knocked off by Bethlehem Center (Fredericktown, PA), 45-28, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Cougars encounter the Steel Valley Ironmen (Munhall, PA) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 15. Carlynton will attempt to improve on its 5-7 season record. The Ironmen come into the challenge with a 1-10 record after their 67-14 league loss to Avonworth (Pittsburgh, PA).
