Next, the Tigers encounter the Slocum Mustangs (Elkhart, TX) in a 1A Region III District 24 test, on Tuesday, January 14. Neches will attempt to improve on its 9-6 season record. The Mustangs come into the test with a 15-11 record after their 51-23 league win over Penelope (Penelope, TX).

The Trojans (1-4) will now prepare for their test against Oakwood (Oakwood, TX). The Panthers come into the 1A Region III District 24 test with a 2-6 record. In their last test, Oakwood was routed by Neches (Neches, TX), 73-12, in a league test.
